About

For Those Who Dream in Technicolor

Cirusère (sear-u-sare): A coined term; takes inspiration from themes of escape and fantasy. "Cirrus" is a type of cloud (think: head in the clouds, watching the clouds); "ere" can refer to people or time

When I daydream, I dream of a specific world – a world of glamour and warmth in which simplicity and maximalism coexist, creators and icons of the past are revered, and beauty & beautiful details abound. Developing the Cirusère brand is my attempt at making this imaginative escape visible, and ultimately tangible.

My first expression of this world is via Cirusère’s weekly Image Reel, which is a series of photos I've taken over the years (and some I've borrowed) of the everyday and the exotic. Strung together, they create a striking visual fantasia that, for me, inspires and invites escape. I hope it does for you, too. The Reel is sent each Friday morning for a pre-weekend daydream. You can sign up at the bottom of this page.

Cirusère’s first tangible creation is a dress called The Domino. I am so deeply happy with how it turned out; it has been a long time coming. More detail is on the Product page. To note, I do not take garment creation lightly. There are endless choices in retail today as well as waste and thoughtless purchasing. No one needs another piece of clothing, and especially one they’re going to tire of next season. I gravitate towards items that are classic, versatile, and made with care and attention to detail. My intention is to create pieces over time that adhere to this sensibility. Further, I aim to create pieces that transport - so wearers can go about their day with one foot in reality, and the other elsewhere entirely.

Last, while I've set the vision and design for the Domino, I cannot take credit for bringing the garment to life. Thank you to Felicia for articulating my visions into CAD sketches and technical specs and thank you to Nelson and his NYC studio for bringing the sketches to life.
